Love Outshines Duty

With my hand on one hip, I recall waiting to set the record straight with my spouse. A few years ago, I remember making this huge feast for my family. I stayed up throughout the night making sure everything was absolutely perfect. The meats were tender and cooked to perfection. The vegetables that were steamed were just the right tenderness, the other vegetables had the right balance of seasoning and spices. My husband spoke and said, I feel the love in this. You put the love in this meal baby. A beautiful compliment yet I translated his statement to: You do not put love into your daily cooking for our family. I remember waiting to set the record straight.  What exactly does that mean? Perceiving I had somehow gotten offended. His reply was firm yet dressed as a peaceful tone that flowed with wisdom, I just appreciate the effort you…

Clothed with Strength and Dignitiy

The current job position that I have has me on a 9/80 schedule. Simply put, I usually have every other Friday off. This particular Friday, due to us having to leave out of town for our youngest (Joshua) son’s lacrosse games, produced a list of action items and goals I desired to accomplish. In fact, the games would span in two different states with a good distance apart (New Orleans, La. that Friday night and Jackson, Ms. for Saturday and Sunday games. I had action items to achieve to ease our family of having to rush that evening. This included efforts to take some of the stressors off my spouse who was to drive the long distances after extended hours of work and to create a smooth transition by having, at minimum, 99% of things done. The timeline was tight and I had planned not to waiver or leave wiggle room for anything…

Team Cook, Losing Everything to Gain it All!

Losing Everything to Win it ALL!   Gazing across the room at Tiffany and Brian Cook, it is as though the love exuberates and seems contagious. They are inseparable and it as if we are all witnessing love struck teenagers who are unrestricted in their emotional display of affection. It is sincere and it is solid. The Cook couple are admired both from afar and upfront and personal.   When I sat down and asked Tiffany Cook a few questions about their love affair, I quickly found that this couple is a solid team. Their willingness to tackle and overcome some of the grit and grime designed to destroy them made them strong intimate covenant partners.   Tiffany and Brian glow when they look at one another and as they talk about one another yet they have not been without struggles in their marriage. Taken from the notes of this…

I Forgive! Standing in the Strength of Forgiveness

I Forgive! Standing in the Strength of Forgiveness     Briana Monai Thomas story begins with a trial of ongoing hurts yet with the yielding ability to find ways to quickly forgive and find inner peace within has been her compass and resolve.  She is cognizant enough to know that one of her purposes of sharing her story is to use any God-given platform to reach and bring healing to others.  Her story encompasses years of molestation while the perpetrator’s inability to show any repentance, humility, or at least, while imprisoned, be graceful and merciful to leave her alone. Briana states with a letter in her hand: “Instead he sends me degrading and hurtful letters through my mother when she either visits or he sends to her.”   Her mother made the decision to remain married to her step-father, the only father she has truly ever known.  With a quivering…

When it Rains Chaos it is time to Reign in Opportunities

In the Bible, chaos seemed to rain time and time again. Jesus or an instruction from the Word of God would prove to be the solution to reign. It remains true to this day. Chaotic situations and challenges are opportunities for to witness God flex his muscles, show how he lavishly and radically loves. God radically loved us  so much that  while yet we were yet in sin he sent is only son to redeem us from sin. Things became very chaotic for the woman with the issue of blood. She had spent all that she had. Still, left in not only the same chaotic situation of sickness and disease, she seemed to have chaos of being an outcast without solution. She allowed her faith was an opportunity to reign. She reigned in her healing. She reigned in her relationship. She reigned in the fact that Jesus acknowledge her in a…

The Ransom is Too High

This year, I will write about releasing people from the captivity of our hearts, thoughts, and deeds. We will not take the territory and walk in the abundance that God has for us with unforgiving ways and the roots that prevent progress because of it. Forgiveness is a a Decision! Love is a Decision! Commitment is a Decision! Many of us have allowed our emotions to dictate our walk in Christ. Forgiveness is an area we need to all walk in as this part of the character of God. No matter if we feel “justified” in our unforgiving ways, we must walk in this freedom as well as free people from our hearts and minds as well as ourselves. When reading about forgiveness in Matthew 6:15 the Amplified version and the Amplified Classic version state many significant details Matthew 6:15 In the Amplified version we are to forgive because it…

In Plain View

This is not to beat up or condemn anyone. In fact God gave the word to me so I know it’s for me. I believe when God speaks something to us it is for us first (that is just a principle)   This morning I said it is real cold to Joshua – really cold – dress warm He went out that wind ? hit him and turned around Then I said what about hand and feet warmers He said mom I’ve been using those yet I need those latex gloves Isaiah, the elder son, keeps saying you need a box ? of latex gloves   I said son I have the latex gloves yet the gloves are in a plastic bag   As we know it has been cold in South Mississippi with temps in the 20s and some teens – wind chill making it seem in the teens or…
